A favourite desert for all the family to enjoy – who doesn’t like chocolate.

400 g/14 oz strawberries, not too ripe 100 g/3 ½ oz good quality dark chocolate, (more than 60% cocoa solids), broken into pieces


  1. Wash and dry the strawberries well. Try to leave the hulls in, as this makes the finished fruit easier to pick up.
  2. Put the chocolate in a small heatproof bowl and place over a saucepan of simmering water, making sure that the bowl does not touch the water. Stir frequently and remove as soon as it melts.
  3. Line a large baking sheet with greaseproof paper. Hold each strawberry by its leaves and dip the end in the chocolate so half the fruit is covered in chocolate. Allow any excess chocolate to drip off back into the bowl, then place the strawberries on the baking sheet, making sure they do not touch each other.
  4. Put in a cool place to set. These should be served the same day as the chocolate will soften if the strawberries are over-ripe, or if they are kept in the fridge for too long.
