These delicious drumsticks can also be grilled or barbecued.

12 chicken drumsticks 2 tbsps soy sauce 2 tbsps hoisin sauce 60ml tomato sauce 90g honey 1 tbsp lemon juice 2 tbsps sesame seeds ½ tsp five-spice powder


  1. Pat the chicken drumsticks dry with paper towels.
  2. Place the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, tomato sauce, honey, lemon juice, sesame seeds and five-spice powder in a large bowl and mix together.
  3. Add the chicken and mix well to coat. Refrigerate, covered, for at least 2 hours, turning occasionally. Preheat the oven to 180’C/160’C Fan/350’F/ Gas 4.
  4. Drain the chicken and place the legs on a rack in a baking dish and bake for 40-50 minutes, turning and basting* occasionally with the leftover marinade*. Serve warm with rice and steamed or stir-fried vegetables.
